2012 Political Strategy

This post is an addition to my blog post of May 9. 2012.

When we citizens of the United States of America begin to cast ballots in the general election of 2012, we should all cast a straight-party Democratic vote.  Do not vote for a single Republican anywhere.  Not in any precinct from coast to coast.  This would serve two purposes, at least.  Purpose one would be to End Conservative Rule and because The Republican Party has become The Party of Conservatism and Conservatives, this would be the best way to bring an end to this host and spreader of inferior ideology and hateful bigotry.  Purpose two would be to essentially bring an end to The Republican Party.  I have always dispised our two-party form of government.  Why not three, or four?  By voting straight-Democratic Party, I realize that we would be giving the Democrats solid power for at least two years, but I believe this approach would send a very strong message, not only to Republicans, but also to Democrats.  The message to Republicans is that their misleadership is no longer wanted or appreciated by a majority of the American people.  The message for the Democrats is that a majority of the American people are giving control of our government to their political party, so don't sqander the position of leadership.  Prove once and for all that a political party that has total control can indeed make responsible progress for the good of our Country and its' citizens.

This message that I am posting is a bit early for the election, but I will repeat this again and again in the coming months.  This message will be very strong in October.  And don't let anyone tell us that voting straight-party is a bad thing.  Republicans are very quick to use this tag-line when talking to the general public, yet, when they are having their closed-door conversations with other Republicans, that is exactly what they tell voters in their own party, "vote straight-party".  That exact strategy worked for Republicans in 2004.  We the people can use that same strategy this year and sweep the Republicans out of power, perhaps for good.

One other tactic that we should engage for this upcoming election in November is to strive for a much better voter turnout.  We too often see about 45% - 50% voter turnout in a presidential election.  We should have 80% - 90% voter turnout.  IF we did have that large of a turnout, AND a majority of those voters voted straight-party Democratic, THAT, indeed, would be a "velvet revolution".  That is what I am hoping for come November, a peaceful revolution by way of the voting booth.  Call me an optimist.

'Midnight at the Oasis'

I started this blog in the fall of 2006 with the intention of using it as a display and discussion of my art.  It quickly became my outlet for sociopolitical ranting and opinion, given that most of my art speaks for itself and needs very little, if any, further discussion from me.  Plus, I have many paintings that have come to be by way of societal and/or political inspiration or influence.  Today's post will have no part in that.  Besides, it's still May and I will have plenty of time until the election in November to express my political viewpoint.  Today,  it's all about the art you see displayed above.

This painting was inspired by a picture of an oasis somewhere in the Middle East, taken in the dark of night with a full moon and there happened to be a ribbon of clouds in the sky covering the moon that was being lit up by its' light.  The clouds were also picking up the lights from a city off in the distance, hidden behind the sand dunes of the desert, whch is why I added the gold (mixed with ochre) streak in the clouds.  Because of the ribbon of clouds, it was somewhat anomalous (for a desert oasis scene), but stunning nonetheless.  It appeared that the oasis was being viewed at a different time of day, not during the dark of night.  The palm trees and the water were capturing the light of the moon.  In painting this, I did not set out to exactly duplicate the picture, but to instead give my slightly-abstract interpretation of the photo.

'N.R.I.:  New Republican Icon'

A blog stands as a person or group's opinion.  This blog is where I post my own personal opinions.  Today, in my opinion, I believe The Republican Party of America should change its icon from an elephant to a pig, for a more honest representation of what this political party is all about.  After all, Republicans have been feeding at the trough of hypocrisy and wastefulness for quite some time now.  And look at what The Republican Party stands for today.  They were in control of our government for those first wasteful six years of George Troubleyou Bush's disasterous reign of terror and destruction, and they, The Republicans, gave George Troubleyou Bush absolutely everything he wanted for those first six years and his spending and wastefulness went unchecked and without veto.  What that gave us when he left office was an economy on the brink of total collapse and debt higher than ever before, and NOW, The Republican Party wants to blame that on someone else, namely our first dark-skinned President, while at the same time they do nothing but try to block anything he is trying to achieve.

This election of 2012 is the most important election in my lifetime, if not in our history.  This election is about ideology vs. ideology, good vs. bad, right vs. wrong, and The Republican Party is on the bad/wrong side of this ideological "fight".  The Republican Party has been completely overtaken by extremist right-wingers who would rather destroy America than see it thrive and grow responsibly, all for the sake of their self-imposed higher morality.  There is nothing higher or superior about the morals of The Republican Party, although, their hypocrisy is higher and superior, that's for sure.

On second thought, a pig is too kind a creature to represent such a vile, destructive, and hateful political group.  With all of the legislation against not just women, but American citizens, The Republican Party is not only waging a war on women, but The Republican Party is waging a war on all citizens of The United States of America that don't follow their inferior ideology.  We should call The Republican Party's war on America 'The Great Republican Dispiriting War'.  The Republican Party should be renamed The New American Taliban Party, or NAT, for short.  How fitting!  As small as gnats are they can be very annoying, buzzing about, biting, sucking blood, looking for mischief just to survive.  And that title is also appropriate because, like the Taliban of Afghanistan, The Republican Party wants to impose harsh and restrictive codes of conduct on the citizen's of our society because they think that is what their "god" would want.  Hogwash!!!  I would laugh out loud if it weren't so fucking pathetic.

Yes, that is what I will call The Republican Party for the rest of this political campaign, The New American Taliban Party.  Maybe even for the rest of my life, unless they are totally defeated in November, which is what they deserve.

The Republican Party is The New American Taliban Party.

TEA = Taliban Extremists' Arm.
