'New Texas Flag'

*One Amongst Many

Due to the unhappiness at the outcome of our very decisive re-election of Barack Obama, a very loud fringe minority group in Texas is wanting for the State of Texas to secede from The United States of America.  First, let me say that I was born in Texas in 1964 and lived in Texas until 1995.  That gave me plenty of opportunity to watch the "lone star" state become the psychologically dismal place that fosters this kind of contempt.  When I say it's a dismal place, it's not the land, it's the people.  I happen to love the diversity of the geographical state of Texas, but the psyche of the citizens of Texas is a self-inflicted mess, which is quite ironic considering that infamous motto of "don't mess with Texas".  They've done the mess to Texas themselves.  A more appropriate motto for Texas would be:  "Texas may be ONE of the biggest stars, but it is NOT the brightest!"  If Texas was to be diagnosed with a mental disorder it would be 'Lone Star Syndrome'.  There is no such thing as a lone star.  One of the things I liked most about Texas is the night time sky in west Texas, especially on a cool, clear winter night.  The sky is filled with so many stars that the milky way is clearly seen, along with millions of other stars that are visible to the naked eye.

Texas is a part of our union.  The population of Texas is approximately 26.7 million people and those people are citizens of The United States of America.  The number of citizens in Texas that have signed a petition to secede is approximately 120,000.  If those 120,000 American citizens are so unhappy living in America then they should give up their citizenship and move to another country where they can find happiness.

On an economic thought about Texas, even though it might appear to be a financially stable environment, it is so only with the financial assistance that it receives from the Federal Government and the Federal Taxpayers, which makes Texas a welfare state.  'Lone Star Syndrome' might empower Texans into believing they would survive without Federal assistance and that the oil supply would be endless, but that is a false reality.  The State of Texas gets far too much money from the Federal Government to try and make a go of it alone, not to mention that Texas would not be able to build its own infrastructure of military and security once the American bases are closed and the forces are withdrawn.  Texas would not be able to exist without a state income tax, so that would have to be implemented and then, how happy would the secessionists be about paying taxes to the State?

If Texas decides to go forth with its' desire to secede on behalf of a very tiny, ignorant minority then so be it.  But before they are allowed to take the land that is known as Texas, we should look into better uses for the real estate other than just allowing some anti-American extremist no-do-gooders to take the land for themselves.  We are called The United States of America for a reason.  It is time that we start acting like a united people and stop this very divisive behavior, even by the few.

'Landmines, Landminds'

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  We should all give thanks for that worth giving thanks for.  Here, in America, we have a lot to be thankful for.  We should be thankful that we do not have rockets or bombs dropped on our neighborhoods by an enemy in close proximity.  We should be thankful that we do not have to worry about stepping on landmines and we should be thankful that our women citizens are not forced, by oppressive laws, to cover themselves from head to toe.  And we should be thankful that other than a mildly vitriolic political atmosphere, we do not have a war waged on our territory.  We should ALL give thanks that we live in The United States of America.

Besides giving thanks, I have some wishes for our world and its' citizens.  I wish we could end all wars.  I realize that would take an incredible calming of hatred, but I wish that it could happen.  I wish that we could end oppression of all people, as well as wishing that we would end worldwide famine.  I wish that mankind would stop drilling oil and stop stripping coal from this earth, as well as stopping all deforestation with the hope that it is not too late to reverse manmade global warming.  These are but just a few wishes I have for our world and its' citizens.  I hope my wishes start to come true, sooner rather than later.  Until then, I will give thanks to all that is worth giving thanks for and I wish that every human being has something to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Flaming Balls.

'Flaming Balls'

Global warming is very real and solely caused by mankind.

Extraction of oil

from under the soil

will cause this earth to spoil

Stop earth fracturing NOW, stop all oil drilling, stop coal stripping, stop deforestation.  Oil that is siphoned from underground acts as this earth's natural coolant, it is what helps keep the temperature of this earth's core stablized, while coal is this earth's insulation which works in conjunction with the oil to help keep this earth alive.  And the trees of this earth act as a filtration system of the atmosphere.  So, if mankind is siphoning the oil without replacing it while at the same time mankind is stripping the earth's insulation and clear-cutting its atmospheric filtration system, what chance does this earth have of supporting long-term life.

The existence of this earth will violently end in flaming balls of fire when it overheats and explodes, which will bring an end to all life on this planet, and the ripple-effect will be the destruction of our tiny solar system and that is really a shame, because it will be all man's fault.

Sacrificial Offering.

'Sacrificial Offering'

Although the outcome of the election is somewhat of a disappointment to me, there is reason to celebrate some of the results, just not in my home state of North Carolina.  What is really troubling to me is that the American people are okay with how things have been for the past two years.  The way I see it, the American voters endorsed gridlock within our government.  For the first time in as long as I can remember, control has not changed for any branch in a major election.  For me, this makes the re-election of President Obama somewhat bittersweet because I wanted The Republican Party to lose more than they did so that they were held accountable for their wasteful, destructive policies of death and debt, as well as their shameless hypocrisy.  But, at least President Obama won this past election by a very decisive margin of victory, both in the popular vote and the electoral college vote.

The best reason for a celebration is that FINALLY, the election is over!  So, let the feasting of the sacrificial offerings (goats, lambs, pigs, geese, ducks, chicken, squab, pigeon, tofu, fish) begin.
