'Little House on the Prairie'

This painting marks a transition in my artwork.  Before this painting, I usually finished each piece quickly.  Some of my art has been completed in fifteen minutes, some in a couple of hours.  But this one was on my easel for over a month, maybe two.  It is one of the first paintings of mine to be painted entirely on an easel.  It also represents a first for any painting of mine in that it has several different types of media used.  This 24" x 24" wood panel incorporates acrylic paints, colored pencils, charcoal, graphite pencils, pastels, and marker.  This painting was accomplished using brushes, spatula, trowel, and sponges.

'Little House on the Prairie' has nothing to do with the Ingalls Family.  I can't really pinpoint what the inspiration for this one was, but I was painting other little houses during this time period, and the little house on this wood panel was the beginning of this piece of artwork.  This is one of my personal favorites.
